High Line and MAD

It's my another weekend journey

HIGHLINE

Highline adalah salah satu pencapaian ruang terbuka hijau di NYC. mereka mencoba mentransformasi bekas rel kereta api yang terbengkalai menjadi urban public space, dan hasilnya cukup memukau. The things that  I like from this garden is how they keep the sense of the railroad. Kabarnya taman ini akan diperluas (diperpanjang kali ya karena bentuknya linear) tahun ini dan akan menghubungkan pula beberapa atraksi di NYC seperti beberapa museum, dsb. Also cool idea.

Sayangnya saya sedikit terlambat mengunjunginya, yaitu late summer. So its not colorful as the spring time, when the perennial flower plant bloom. but thats fine though. it still charm even with just green hue. You know, everytime I go to visit a cool garden, I always think when Indonesia have something like this. (atau pertanyaan yang lebih bertanggung jawab kapan saya dan teman2 yang lulusan arsitektur lanskap bisa buat taman seperti ini).

Saya sampai beli buku tentang highline ini saking ngefansnya. Bukunya membahas dari inventarisasi sampai pembangunannya. Dan sekali lagi saya kagum dengan konsep mempertahankan suasana rel kereta api ini, dan juga bagaimana mereka memanfaatkan baik soft maupun hard existing material. (you will see on the photos). Also the important thing is the willingness of all the stakeholder to make this dream park comes true. Once again i said, it's really cool park.

(Just cant believe something that i have just see on the book, now, i can see trough my own eyes)

BRYANT PARK

I take my lunch here, with my lunch box, enjoy the late summer breeze while take lunch

surrounding by high rise buildings, it seem a nice place to runaway for a while
